Everything Is Recorded feat. Sampha, Florence + The Machine, Danielle Ponder & Jah Wobble – Wear and Tear
Richard Russell’s Everything Is Recorded project continues its collaborative tradition with ‘Wear and Tear’, bringing together an impressive roster of voices and musicians. Sampha handles lead vocals while Florence Welch adds her distinctive harmonies, creating a chemistry they first established on ‘Never Felt Better’ from the Temporary album. Jah Wobble’s bass work grounds the track with his signature post-punk rumble.
The song introduces two new collaborators to Russell’s circle: singer-songwriter Danielle Ponder and Black Midi drummer Morgan Simpson. Recorded at Russell’s West London Copper House studio, the track builds on the momentum from February’s critically acclaimed Temporary album and the improvised Solstice Equinox collection.
Russell has spent years cultivating this collaborative approach, assembling musicians across genres for sessions that prioritise chemistry over conventional songwriting. The resulting sound sits somewhere between broken soul and experimental pop, with each contributor adding their texture to the mix. Simpson’s drumming provides the rhythmic foundation while Wobble’s bass creates space for the vocal interplay between Sampha, Florence, and Ponder.
